What Is Face-Slapping?
Face-slapping (打脸, dǎ liǎn) is the act of publicly humiliating someone who has insulted or underestimated you. In Chinese web novels, it’s the ultimate power fantasy payoff.
The term comes from “slapping someone’s face” — making them lose face (丢人现眼) in public.
The Formula
Every face-slapping scene follows this pattern:
