Heavenly Tribulation (天劫, tiānjié) is the heavenly test that cultivators must face when advancing to higher realms. It’s essentially:
“To defy the heavens, one must survive the heavenly tribulation.”
Heaven doesn’t want too many immortals. The tribulation filters out the weak.
A cultivator’s Dao Heart (道心) is tested. Only those with unwavering will can pass.
Those who cultivate too quickly or recklessly face stronger tribulations.
The universe has rules. Breaking through without paying the price violates those rules.
